lazy saturday ftw!

Productive Things I Have Accomplished Today:

  1. One load of laundry
  2. Washed the dishes that were in the sink
  3. Reorganized the kitchen cabinet after discovering I have an overabundance of drinking vessels (five new ones from just last week!)
  4. Replaced the Brita water filter
  5. Watered the ancestral plant
  6. Moved the suitcases from the middle of my kitchen to the bedroom (one room closer to the crawlspace, so yes I am considering that productive)
  7. Got caught up on my tv shows
  8. Seriously began the plotting of my next adventure

All-in-all, a pretty good day.

I also slept in (ahhhhh, so nice), especially since I was out late last night for some games and getting caught up with friends I haven’t seen for awhile.

Met the boyfriend *gasp — it’s official* of one of my friends. I have heard a lot about him but it was nice to finally put a voice/face/mannerisms to the descriptions she had given us. Let’s just say that it wasn’t what I expecting from a bomb technician who permanently lives in an RV. He’s a pretty cool dude, and I think a good fit for my friend, and I’m looking forward to getting to know him better.

Except I spent most of the evening chatting with another friend, discussing last week’s vacation. She and I are agreed that if we aren’t able to convince our families to make a return trek to the World in a few years, we’ll just plan our own, where we shall spend our days at Animal Kingdom and our dinners in Morocco.

Oh, and I learned a new game! Mum & Dad, take note: “Wits & Wagers.” The gist of the game is you’re given a weird fact that has a number as an answer, and everyone writes down their best guess, and then you’re given an opportunity to vote on which one you think is closest. I actually didn’t do too badly, but I did end up being the one to skew everyone else’s results. This is because I sort of gave up on giving educated guesses and went with my gut — and by “gut,” I mean things like “2468″ (who do we appreciate!) and “88″ *(G: “Why did you pick 88 when no one else went above 30?” Me: “Because it just felt right. And it’s from ‘Back to the Future.’” G: *high five*). The craziest thing was once we hit the end, there were a couple of tie-breakers (which I wasn’t a part of, even though shockingly enough I didn’t end up dead-last. My answers may have been pretty ridiculous, but I was able to earn my points by voting on more reasonable answers. And make people lose points because my crazy answers sometimes seemed fairly reasonable and these poor people voted for them). I played along with the tie-breakers for fun — and actually “won”! Apparently my randomness isn’t always so random. Or it’s just laws of chance catching up with me.

At any rate, the most important thing you need to know is that Michael Phelps eats 12, 000 calories a day. Because apparently I was the only one who knew it. And that’s just sad.

Oh, and one of my workmates tried to invite me to see “Beauty and the Beast in 3D” this weekend. This is because we got to talking about Disney since I spent a little bit in her office talking about the trip — she also loved Animal Kingdom when she was there a few years ago with her family, whereas I’m all why did no one tell me that this is the best Disney park ever and that I should have my head examined to think I was originally planning only a half-day there?!!  I’m apparently now dividing my relationships between people who love Animal Kingdom and people who don’t.

I then explained to her my inability to watch 3D movies.

It’s pretty funny, really.

I don’t get motion sick (although I can get nasty headaches from rough thrill rides, which is why I’m not a huge fan of roller coasters). Which means that I rode every ride at Disney, some even twice (or three times in a row, in some cases). My poor father does get motion sick, so no roller coasters and other more energetic rides. *sad face*

But this means we can watch lots of shows! And Disney loves putting on a show! Especially in 3D!

It turns out, a twenty-minute 3D show can wreck me. The one in Fantasyland with Donald and the hat and the orchestra just about killed me (at least with the Muppets one there were some actual muppets I could focus on when not looking at the screen). I had to take a few moments (and a lot of deep gulps of sweet, sweet fresh air) to recover from it.

My dad? He had no problem. Loved it. Yay, he didn’t have sit on a bench and wait for mom and me to finish riding some rollercoaster or motion simulator.

I was worried that I might actually throw up.

But it was all good. I got over it while waiting in line for the tea-cups.

Seriously. It’s not just humorous juxtaposition. It’s true.

The tea-cups don’t bother me (spin! spin! spin! spin! keep spinning! just keep spinning!) — but 3D makes me want to lie down and drink ginger ale.

I’m so weird.

However, I’m hoping that I might be able to catch a 2D showing of B&TB sometime. I’d like to see it again on the big screen (even though they’ve added a scene that wasn’t in the original, much to my consternation. And G’s wife’s consternation. Another friend hadn’t heard about this, and we pretty much gave her a blow-by-blow of what is was and where it was added. Yes, we scared ourselves. We were also able to sing the whole Gaston song, and another friend discovered that that the lyrics are actually “the size of a barge.” She thought it was “the size of a barn.” But G’s wife and I vehemently corrected her. We may or may not be total dorks.)

Wow, it was a very Disney day yesterday, wasn’t it? I guess the pixie dust lingers longer than you’d expect.
